It’s the main headline here, but the 6K resolution isn’t just a bigger number to slap on the box. At 12MP each, the Swann EliteX cameras can capture faces and number plates with enough clarity to actually be useful, even when you’re digitally zooming in after the fact. That’s the bit that matters with security footage because you don’t just want to see that something happened, you need to be able to actually identify who did it. The system ships with either four dome or four bullet cameras in the box, though you can expand up to 16 cameras total if you’ve got a particularly sprawling property to keep an eye on.
Swann has gone the Power over Ethernet route rather than wireless here, which means rock-solid 24/7 operation without worrying about Wi-Fi dropouts at the worst possible moment. That’ll be a double-edged sword for some people, it’s a massive boost for reliability but it also drastically increases how involved installation is. The NVR includes 2TB of storage and, crucially, there are no ongoing subscription fees because everything records locally.
The AI detection smarts can distinguish between people, vehicles, and pets, so you won’t be pestered with alerts just because next door’s cat has popped over, and you can set up customisable perimeter intrusion zones and detection grids to specify exactly where you want the system paying attention. When it spots something worth knowing about, you’ll get an immediate alert on your phone.

The EliteX 6K NVR also packs integrated spotlights and sirens to deter intruders in real-time, while colour night vision keeps things visible up to 25 metres in total darkness. Pre and post-event recording means you’ll never miss the crucial moments before or after an incident, and Swann’s Smart Search makes trawling through footage considerably less tedious. The cameras are IP66-rated, so rain, shine, or whatever the British weather throws at them shouldn’t be a problem.
The Swann EliteX 6K NVR Security System is available now from £599.99 for the four-camera kit. Regional pricing and availability beyond the UK will follow.
