German audio specialist beyerdynamic has launched two new wireless gaming headsets built on the same underlying acoustic engineering but aimed at different ways of listening. The choice between the closed-back MMX 100 wireless and the open-back MMX 130 wireless is personal preference rather than one model sitting above the other, with the closed-back design built to shut out background noise and the open-back design built for a wider, more spacious sound.

The beyerdynamic MMX 100 pairs its closed-back build with studio-tuned sound aimed at cutting out distractions during long sessions or fast-paced multiplayer games. It connects over Bluetooth 6.0, a low-latency USB dongle or a cable, and beyerdynamic lists compatibility across PC, console, smartphone and handheld devices. A detachable META VOICE microphone handles voice chat, and the headset uses velour ear pads with a 275 gram build, along with a replaceable battery and metal hinges that beyerdynamic says are there to extend its lifespan.

The MMX 130 wireless switches to an open-back design built around a titanium-coated 40mm driver, which beyerdynamic says suits story-driven, open-world and RPG games where atmosphere and spatial detail matter as much as isolation does for the MMX 100 wireless. The open design also aids airflow, and combined with breathable velour pads and a lighter 265 gram build, beyerdynamic says it’s intended to stay comfortable over longer sessions.

Both headsets share more than 80 hours of battery life on beyerdynamic’s figures, along with call handling, microphone mute and volume controls built in. beyerdynamic is giving the MMX 100 wireless its first public showing at gamescom 2026 in Cologne, where the brand is the First Presenter at the Indie Arena Booth.

The MMX 100 wireless launches on 1 September 2026 in Black or Arctic White at £89 GBP, with the MMX 130 wireless following in October 2026 in the same colours at £109 GBP. Both will be sold through beyerdynamic’s online shop, Amazon and specialist retailers from their respective launch dates.
