Flipping the sticks is a neat trick, though it’s not entirely unique. Thrustmaster tried something similar with the eSwap X2 Pro to reasonable effect. Turtle Beach has pushed it a step further though and it means one controller can handle both a shooter that wants proper thumbsticks and a game that would rather a little extra touch-based precision. There’s an extra dedicated trackpad too, for moving the cursor and getting around Windows.
With the sticks in place, the Stealth Flip uses AntiDrift Hall-effect thumbsticks, which rely on magnets rather than physical contact so they resist drift that plagues the likes of the Xbox Elite controller. Polling goes up to 1,000Hz when wired, the trigger stops are adjustable, and two back buttons can be mapped to whatever you fancy. Four onboard profiles are set up in the PC Swarm II desktop app, which also covers macros and stick curves.
It connects to a PC wirelessly through a USB dongle, and over Bluetooth to phones and smart TVs. Battery life is up to 20 hours, you can play while charging over a cable, and a 3.5mm headset jack gives you access to Turtle Beach’s audio tuning.
The Stealth Flip costs $99.99, €99.99 or £89.99, and is on sale today at turtlebeach.com and participating retailers globally. It arrives alongside the Rematch Wireless PC Controller, which skips the touchpads and costs £49.99.
